Liberty May 20th 1867.

Personal
Lt J.T. Kirkman
Galveston,

Dear Sir.
Enclosed I sent you (in your Official capacity) a copy of a letter addressed to R.F.Cordua. (Clerk to Lt Garretson)in reply to one addressed by him to me. If it is not requesting to much, I should be pleased if you submitted it to the General I am informed (confidentially) that great exertions are being made to injure me in the estimation of the Genl. all I ask is a thorough investigation of my official conduct and an honest report of the same
I have received a notification from the Commissioner (Genl Howard) at Washington that I am assaulted an agent of the Bu to date from August 11th 1866, is it proper that I should acknowledge the same & give my acceptance of the same, does this give me more strength than appointment from the Asst Howard.
Lieut Garretson has in his posession my receipted accounts for postage for January, February, March, and April I either want him to pay them or return the receipts now
