Sir

I have the honor to inform you of a little affair that occured here yesterday. from what I can learn from a citizen of this place it appears that some time ago a Freedman sold some corn apart of his crop, to a man in this place he hauled the corn to the mans house. & yesterday the man took his rifle and went to the negros place and made him give him back the money and negro wanted him to pay him for hawleing the corn away but he told him he would not do it from what I hear the man is a very lawless chap. The freedmans name is Owen Hadnot and the white mans name is Tobias Delaney and a yong man by the name of Wright. This information I get from a very reliable citzien of this place. If you will send subpoenas blank to Dr L White of this place he will fill them out with the names of witnesses.

Very Respectfully
J. Ormerod
Asst Assessor. U.S.V.R.
