Bvt Maj General Kiddoo

General I have the honor to acknowledge the Receipt of a document through you from Lt Col O E Pratt of Austin Travis Co S A Com & I ashure you General I was perfictly confounded at the depravity of Mankind. The charges preferred against me are without the slightest foundation I will put my hand upon the Bible & swear by the high heavens that I have neaver yet received one dime for the collection of debts or any other servises officially rendered to Freedmen Neither have I ever in my life laid the wait of my hand upon a Freedman I am informed that Mr Geo J Elam Col. Pratt informant is about to loose his situation in Falls Co. as the Assessor of Internal revenue & is seaking some mode to effect my removal that he may be appointed the Sub Asst Comr of this County

Now General when you or the Planters & Freedmen of this Co. become dissatisfied with me & desire my remooval I shall have nothing to say - It was a position I did not covit. But as I acepted it & have exercised all the faculties I am master of to meete out justice to all conscerned I now have a pride to gratify that it may be said of me when I am done that I have performed my part well & depart from my Labours in peace.

I am Verry Respectfully
A P Delano
