Com'd'g Sub District of San Antonio,
San Antonio, Texas.

It having been satisfactorily shown the Com'd'g General that Mr. W. Longworth, late Sub Assistant Commissioner in the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands has been illegally arrested and subjected to imprisonment for acts done while in the service of the United States and while acting in an official capacity under orders from proper military authority. You will under the provisions of General Orders, No. 3, C.S. War Department cause him to be at once released from arrest and give him such protection as will relieve him from all suits and prosecutions now brought against him.

All bonds given by him in this case will be canceled.
