L Galveston Sir, Your several communications to Maj A. H. Mayer Sub Asst Commr in reference to school for Freedmen have been received The Major is about on a tour through this county. At least he started up the river by boat to the head of the County, with the intention of returning through the interior by horse I am fearful that the late severe storms and extraordinary rise in the river will so overflow the county that it will be impossible for him to proceed inland, but will have to return by boat.
