The party were thus engaged about the space of one hour, and had fired in and about the buildings upwards of 30 shots, causing the death of one man, and wounding very severely, if not mortally two men, they burned 4 houses thereby causing the death of my son, 
The damage done to property belonging myself and the other freedmen amounts to about one thousand dollars, 
The men were recognized by my brother-in-law who heard them speak plainly when he was under the bed, he was personly acquainted with all of them, and also by the women who saw them and also knew them well, and who are sure they are the men above mentioned,
