Col -

Two freedmen left my place near Huntsville Walker Co. after signing a contract, approved by the Sub-assistant Commissioner, and it is reported, have gone to Galveston on a Trinity River Boat. One is a light Mulatto about 5 ft 11 inches in height, dresses well - named Pomp Goree - alias Albert Wiley - the other is very black, about 5 ft 8 inches in height - quick in his movements and speech with the remarkable peculiarity of having very white fingernails - Wm. Thomas - as an example to other freedmen of our neighborhood. I respectfully and earnestly ask that they be apprehended and returned to the agent R. F. & A L of this place.

Prompt proceeding will have a most salutary effect upon our industrial interests.

Very Respectfully,
J R Robertson
