The question now with me is, Should I visit all the plantations as often as I can and address the freedmen? or sh'd I stay in my office & settle all matters of dispute in s'd office.  I have been adopting since I relieved Capt Sloan the former policy and find it is the best
although (it is to me) very fatiguing for I am in the saddle every day more or less. Yet I find in my short experience that it is the best policy and that it is beneficial both to the planter & the freedmen as the freedmen lose no time & consequently no loss of pay by calling at the Bureau & the planter by not losing the work of his hands at a time that he wants them the most.
