Dickerson Bayou Aug 29. 1866 Mr Sinclair I am now in receipt of your Note by the Freedman Allen who Claims that I am indebted to him for two months wages. I must inform you that he told you a falsehood as I never hired him at all. It was a freedman that I have hired who got him to assist him in his Crop. Allen promised to work for his victuals and clothes he done very well for a time but at last I was forced to make him leave as he was caught in the attempt of breaking into my house. if he does not leave this portion I will be under the painful necessity of having him arrested. The Freedman Brister who is a worthy Freedman can testiy to all contracts made the Boy Allen was clothed during the time he was with me respectfully yours N. H. Ragsdale
