took him to jail, accusing him to be the thief. My brother William had some time previous to this occurrence started from Galveston, to visit Benjamin, whom he had not seen since before the war, and on his arrival at Millican was also arrested and taken to jail, pretendingly for the reason, that William was an accomplice of Benjamin. Upon receipt of a letter from Millican, stating the main part of the foregoing [[strikethrough]]statements[[/strikethrough]] facts I went to Millican, to find out some particulars in the case of my two brothers, and the above mentioned is as near a statement, as I could gather from several trustworthy persons at Millican.

As my brothers are both married, have families to care for, and business to attend to at home, I respectfully apply, to have their case investigated as soon as possible If required, I can give the best of references, as to the good character and conduct of my brothers.
