Genl. Kiddoo,

Sir I beg leave to inform you that I contracted with a Freedman name Albert Jefferson who left my Plantation without my consent. I applied to Mr. Carter to Order the Freedman back, which he did, and Fined him Thirty two Dollars for leaving and time lost. The Freedman went to work cheerful. Two days after this, I received an Order, from Mr. Carter, Ordering of me to send Albert Jefferson back to Mr. Burnetts, (where he had been) to work to pay for time he had lost. I went to see Mr. Carter, and demanded of him, to let me keep The Freedman, that my crop was suffering and if there was damages done any one, let it come out of someone else not out of me. Mr. Carter would not give me any satisfaction but still ordered me to send the Freedman and charge him a Dollar per day for every day gone. I dont know how long he is to be gone. I ask Gnl, for an Order from you. Ordering the Freedman back to my Plantation.

I could give you more particular If I could see you

I am Sir your most Obt Servant
