Some ten days since you informed me by Telegraph that you had ordered the release of Mr McGarry from the Brenham Jail, and that particulars would be furnished by mail.  I have been exceedingly anxious to learn what orders you thought it proper to issue.  I hope you will have the conduct of Capt Craig investigated, and have meted out to him such punishment as he deserves.  I would have said nothing further on this subject, were it not just that officers should be punished when they violate their orders, and go so
