Fall term AD 1865

Be it remembered that at a District Court begun and held in and for said County of Lamar at the Court house thereof in the town of Paris on the 9th day of October 1865 Present and presiding the Hon Byrd W. Gray Judge of the 8th Judicial District of said State E. L. Dahoney District attorney John C Gibbens sheriff and M. L. Armstrong Clerk of said Court the following proceedings were had.

Orange Bray Freedman}

Assault with intent to Kill. 

Now on this day comes E. L. Dahoney prosecuting the pleas of the State and announces himself ready for trial and it appearing to the court that Defendant has no counsel and was not able to employ counsel. Whereupon Wm H. Johnson and Henry B. Warren were appointed to represent said Defendant. Whereupon he announces himself ready for trial and entered the plea of not guilty. Whereupon comes the following jury to wit R. S. Brame and eleven others good and lawful men duly elected tried and sworn well and truly to try the issue joined between the parties and a true verdict render after hearing the evidence and argument of Counsel and receiving the charge of the Court, retired under the charge of the Sheriff and after due deliberation returned into Court the following verdict
