The State of Texas

To the Sheriff of Lamar County, Greeting.
In the name of the State of Texas you are hereby commanded to take into your custody the body of Orange Bray freedman if to be found in your county and him safely keep so you have him instanter at the present term of our Honorable District Court for the County of Lamar now in session at the Court House thereof in the town of Paris to answer the State charge by Indictments presented by the Grand Jurors of said County at the present term of said court wherein it is charged that one Orange Bray freedman upon the body of one John H. L. Bray in the peace of God in said state then and there being felonious by wilfully and of his malice aforethought did make an assault with the intent to kill and murder him the said John H. L. Bray against the peace and dignity of the State.

Herein fail not but make due return of this writ with your action endorsed thereon
