Major General D.B. Kiddoo
Asst. Com. Bureau R.F. and A.L. State of Tx.-

General!

Having been informed that you require Agents in the Bureau, and that in making appointments you prefer
ex-United States army officers, I have the honor most respectfully to apply to you for an appointment in the Bureau as a Citizen Agent. I served as an officer in the 1st Regt. Nebraska Cavalry Veteran Volunteers, from the commencement of the war until its close, and was Mustered-out with my Colonel upon the consolidation of the Regiment.-

I am somewhat acquainted with the duties of an officer of the Bureau, having served with Capt. Bryson Porter in his office at Houston in January last.

Having been unfortunate this year in business transactions I am induced to make the above application, and should you favor me with an appointment, nothing shall be wanting on my part, and as far as I am capable in rendering entire satisfaction I would respectfully refer you to Capt. Bryson Porter Houston, Capt Sam. C. Sloan Millican, His Excellency Gov. Stone of Iowa (late Col. 22d Iowa, Maj Genl. S.W. Davidson His Excellency Govr. Robt. B. Mitchell New Mexico
