General,
The proposed plan of special enlistments to cover demand for male teachers in Texas, has not been approved by General Townsend; but in a conversation with that Officer, he stated, that while special enlistments might not be granted, yet should you be able to find any of the enlisted men now in Texas, competent for detail as teachers, there would be no objection to their performing the duty, - taken in connection with the kind of duty, soldiers are almost universally engaged upon in the Freedmens Bureau.
