They flock to me day by day and ask for advise and relief and letters of condolence, rebrief, claims et cetera, but without any authorized power I feel myself lamed, whereas I would willingly do to attend to all their just demands. Please, Sir and consider this most kindly and let me know it as soon as possible. Any farther credentials may be asked from the War Department at Washington, as I left them filed there.
