Dear Sir:-

Before Mr. Freer left for Europe, he asked me to order from Ellwanger & Barry, certain plants for replacement in the Yondotega garden, which Reuben would tell me were needed.

Some of those ordered have been received, and take pleasure in handing you enclosed herewith, Ellwanger & Barry's bill dated May 18th, therefor, $49.45, certified by me for Mr. Freer, as to the quantity of each ordered, and by Reuben as to the receipt at the clubof the same.
