Dear Montross:--

During my short stay in New York last week, I made two or three efforts to catch you at your gallery, but failed each time, and just at the hour of my departure, I found your card at the Waldorf. I would like to have spent a few moments with you, but, as you know, failed. I hope for better luck next time.

I have nothing particularly new to say to you beyond the fact that my little stay abroad was enjoyable, and, of course, every moment of the time was very fully occupied.

Hoping you are keeping well, I remain,

     Yours very sincerely,
