My dear Sir:--

On July 5th, I send you two letters which dealt with the painting owned by Lord Battersea, entitled "The Gold Screen", and as I was very suby at the time, I had to postpone reference to the other items mentioned in your letter.  To-day offers the first opportunity since then to continue the correspondence.

And now, let me say, concerning the upright pastel and the small pen and ink study of Sarasate, I doubt very much if I should care to purchase them.  Still, if I were to see them and find the quality satisfactory, I would gladly add them to my collection.  Perhaps, they will still be in your keeping when I am next in London, and if they are, I hope then to have the pleasure of seeing them.

What has happened to the fourteen drawings by Mr. Whistler belonging to the Forbes Collection, and has anything new developed concerning the oil painting in the same collection of the Girl
