My dear Mr. Gookin:--
I am glad to have your letter of the 12th instant, and to know of the safe return home of yourself and Mrs. Gookin. What a delightful trip you had!
I can quite understand the pleasure of your day at Kidderminster. Mr. Tomkinson is a delightful man, and I like his active ways and enthusiasm as a collector.  Mr. Bing is always delightful.  But I am sorry you failed to me Mr. Jerome.  Well, that can wait until your next trip.
Yes, I arrived in Paris only a day or two after your departure, and I regretted very much our failure to see each other there. 
Do give me a couple days of your time either before you visit Buffalo or on your way home, whichever will please you best.  As you are to spend Saturday, the 20th, in Buffalo, why not take the night train to Detroit, join me at breakfast on Sunday morning, and spend that day and Monday, the 22nd, here.
