Dear Tryon:-

The pastels for the St. Louis Exhibition have all reached here in good order, excepting the two owned by Mr. Bixby, (one of your own and the other by Dewing,) and the portrait of my sister by Dewing. The latter will arrive to-morrow. The two owned by Bixby will be added to our group at St. Louis. The total number shown is thirty-six - fifteen of your own, thirteen by Whistler and eight by Dewing.

Each picture bears a number or letter, and the hanging will be arranged practically as you and I planned. I found it advisable to make one or two slight changes, which to me seem extremely harmonious. The four you sent from New York come in beautifully.

Three of the spaces will contain six pictures each, and the fourth space two rows of nine pictures each.

I trust there will be no misunderstanding between Ives and ourselves, and I have no doubt at all that he will gladly adopt the suggestions I am sending him.

The room is going to be, undoubtedly, the swellest part of the Fine Arts Department.
