#915 Union Trust Building,
Detroit, Michigan,
May 4th, 1904.

George W. Bates, Esq.,
Pres., Detroit Archaeological Society.
DETROIT.

Dear Sir:-

In the absence of Mr. Charles L. Freer, I opened your letter of the 3rd instant, addressed to him.

Mr. Freer left Detroit on Monday afternoon, last, for New York, and sailed for Europe this morning on the "S. S. Oceanic". He will be absent for about six weeks, and will therefore be unable to attend the annual meeting of the Council of the Archaeological Institute of America to be held in New York, May 14th.

Yours very truly,
