On Monday 27" my father, mother Mary and I started for Lake Minnewaska passing through High Falls where we stopped a few minutes. We ate our lunch on the road through the Close and reached the house about 4. Mr. Smillie recognized me and was very polite. His house was full and he told me he had had to refuse applications. I took Mary a row on the lake just where I took dear Gertrude about a year ago. I thought of her constantly. She was so closely associated with our excursion for she so thoroughly enjoyed our trip last year and was so cheerful and happy all the time. We staid over night and Tuesday (28") morning drove over to Mohonk by the new road 7 miles. Staid there at dinner and drove home at 4. Met Mr. Huntington and his wife there and Mrs. Davis. Arrived home found Mrs. Swan here. Nannie & Miss Dela[[?]] also who had taken [[?]] with Sara. Sara had had a letter from Lucy. They had arrived safely at Fort Halleck. I had a letter from Weir and one from Eastman Johnson from E. Hampton. Weirs are to leave on Thursday. No answer to my other letter as I had hoped

Wednesday 30. Trimmed the wisteria vine over at my house and wrote to Booth in the afternoon. The man does not come to cut my trees and the carpenter came up to tell me he could not put my window in until Saturday. Wrote to Mr. Pell and just as I finished it I went down stairs and found a very nice letter from him
