Monday Sept 1. Left home. Dined with Giffords.

Tuesday 2. To Boston alone by 11. A.M. train very hot and dusty. Left Boston in 7. P.M. train sleeping car for Bangor. Church and his wife came on board at Portsmouth and introduced me to Mr & Mrs. Leycester, charming English people who are to be of our party. A very pretty attractive girl came into the sleeping car with a lady and gentleman friend and went all the way to Mattanwamkeg. Reminded me of Gertrude as a girl in her freshness of manner and she looked a little like her about same size & same complexion. Tried to find an excuse to speak to her but did not succeed to my regret. At Bangor went to Bangor [[Home??]] to [[heatfart??]] Excursion train and late at Malte. Dined at Malte, and left our trunks & completed outfit. Went to Midway & slept Wesdnesday night. 

Thursday 4. Left in three trucks and sent baggage by the waggens. Mrs [[strikethrough]] Mr [[/strikethrough]] Church Mrs Leycester & Mr. L. in big truck, Churct with [[Byulin??]], I with George Daisly- Cloudy day but still & pleasant. Camped at Farbers Camp - Rained after we get in camp.

Friday 5. Fine still day. George left me to return and Farber took his place in my truck. Lunched on Pemadumcook and reached cmap at 7. Pouring rain
