Saturday Oct 4. wind blew all night and still blowing. Church is dismantling the camp - went out this forenoon and got a beautiful collection of delicate autumn leaves. Mary. Mrs Church and I walked up to the clearing gathering leaves which we arranged on our return

Sunday 5. A doubtful day but still until towards evening. Dismantling the camp- wrote to Sara. Wrote to Alice yesterday and today to Donnie Church.

Monday 6. Left for home. At 8 o'clock. A beautiful day and still with lovely color. Lunched in Pemadumcook. Royal & Williams came up in a batteau just as we stopped to lunch and brought me a letter from Sade and one from Mary. Got over the Cary by dark and camped.

Tuesday 7. A perfect day and the voyage a delight. Reached Midway at nine and had dinner at this hotel. Reached Mattawamkeag at sundown. Packed for home.

Wednesday 8. The Churches and Mary left at 4. I go at 10.10 to St John. A golden day. Posted letters to Booth, Sade, Alice, During and Eastman. There is to be a fair here today and there is great bustle and bawling of cattle. Sent one birch home by express - did not get a receipt- left at 10.10. The weather happy and were comfortably warm. The country until
