Wednesday Jan. 31" 1883. A dark dismal morning with a thunder shower towards noon after which it cleared and the sun came out bright, so that I painted until 3 o clock when by appointment I called at Fred Nortons for Annie Lee with whom I went to call on Mrs. Lockwood DeForest. From there we called on Mrs. Wheeler + Dora in Doras studio in 23" St but as it was their reception day did not see much of them. In the evening Calvert and I called on the Churchs who are in the Osborns house for a couple of months while they are gone travelling. 

Thursday Feb. 1. 1883. The weather is very cold again. Calvert came over to see my pictures. Annie Lee and her Aunt Mrs. Tasler came and made a long call. Fitch came to tell me Mr. Gordon wants an Autumn picture for a friend and advised me to send mine to the Club Saturday. He has very kindly offered to see that I have a frame for it. Painted on my Spruce Creek picture 30 x 36 which I think I will send to the Academy. Called on Annie Lee in the evening at Fred Nortons to bid her good bye as she goes home tomorrow. Met Rev. Mr. Donald there the rector of the church corner of 10" St and 5" Av. a young man who came to see me once. Afterwards attended a meeting of the Century trustees, at which the annual appropriations were passed, all of them reduced in view of the prospect of the club going up town which is now almost assured. 

Friday 2. The frame came for my October. Painted on my Academy picture. Called at Fred Sawyers in the evening and got more encouraging word from Dr Sawyer who is likely to regain his sight. Went to the club and saw Thompson & Lang. Lang told me about Lintzes family. Trevor is in Savannah. Ida at Inwood degenerated, Trevor told him into a nobody, I suppose through misfortune the younger daughter is married at Stuttgart to a German nobleman and Mrs. Lintze is not likely to live more than a few months from last accounts. Eugene went over there last year and took his family to leave them for a year or two. Wrote to Geo. Hall in Rome.

Saturday 3. A frozen rain which made the sidewalks impracticable compelling every one to walk in the streets. My frame for my figure came and that and the October have gone to the Club. At noon the sun came out, Went home by 3.30 train. It was raining a little when we arrived. I crossed on the ice in Winters Stage and Tom met me at the Mansion House.
