At this time my eyes failed and I have been consulting Dr. A.B. Norton an oculist of N.Y. He forbade my going into the Maine woods on the 15" but we went the 29". and returned Oct. 24. Have been miserable since my return and almost entirely disabled by weakness and loss of breath.
We built fire in the hall stove Oct 24". 

Nov. 1" 1890. Chestnut St is being graded. Girard has purchased my little outside studio from Sam Coykendall and has had it moved over to his house where it is being attached. Toms house is progressing and is partly lathed. Boughton has come to America for a visit after an absence of over 30 years.

Died Jan 27th 1891 11 a.m. of Bright's disease - was in bed sixteen days.
