Baltimore,1,Md.

Dear Mr.Murphy,

Your letter of September 17th hasbeen received stating your inability to be at the open house on the date of September 25th at the Frederick Douglass Memorial .

Due to certain developments concerning the Douglas Home we have changed the date of open house to Saturday October 8th. A detailed explanation appeared in the Washington Afro American Fri.Sept.17th. In a conference with Mrs Irene McCoy Gaines, President of the National Association of Colored Women defenite commitment was made by her to release certain funds held up by them for the furnace installation and improvement of the basement at the Home.

Under these conditions which we have worked very hard to see accomplished :the painting of the home on the outside, roof repaired and painted and other repairs and with pressure for the NACW and FDM& HA to do something besides talk,we hope you can be with us on the above date.

Yours truly,
C.E. Qualls
