ERIE HEIGHTS CIVIC ASSOCIATION, INC.
WASHINGTON, D.C.

February 12, 1956

Dr. Charles E. Qualls
Chairman, Coordinating Committee,
Anacostie and Vicinity,
Washington, D.C.

Dear Doctor Qualls:

We, the members of the Erie Heights Civic Association, appreciate the opportunity of participating in the celebration of Frederick Douglass Anniversary.

We wonder Just where or what our position would have been
today, had it not been for the zealous courage exhibited by this great Champion of Negro Rights. We do not think anyone present here today could possibly sing or remember the words of the Negro National Anthem without visualizing or remembering Frederick Douglass Men have been destined by God to carry out His works here on earth, and we believe that it would not be sacrilegious to say that Frederick Douglass was so destined.

In remembering him on this day, we are not only proud to honor his memory, but also the fat that he did his job well.

Sincerely yours,
Russell L. Paxton
