Mitchell Carroll, Esq.,
Gen'l Sec'y, Archaeological Institute of America,
The Octagon, Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. Carroll:-

Your kind letter of May 13th is received and noted. I have pleasure in acknowledging the compliment paid me by the Archaeological Institute of America in electing me a Patron of the Institute. I feel, however, that I have done very little to entitle me to the honor.

I am glad to hear such news concerning the lectures of Mr. Langdon Warner and I feel very confident that we will all be delighted with his coming work in China.

Very sincerely yours,
