The feeling against Union men is even more malevolent  they are looked upon with perfect contempt. To illustrate A prominent man living on the line between Dallas & Tarrant Co's told the Judge of Tarrant Co that the time would soon come when he & all other Union men would be so damn dead & worthless the dogs wouldn't live on them" He also took the oath & immediately afterwards boasted that he had sworn to a "damn lie" but did it to protect his property  this can be proven by the some of the best men in the county  They purjure themselves without any compunction whatever, & say it is no crime to do it against the US Government Union men & Freedmen  Against the latter two it is of daily occurrence

It is only by harsh measures that they can be controled  They cannot or will not appreciate magnaminity  On the contrary they call it fear.
