until I informed him that the freedman was working in Mr Thermans place instead of Mr. Fleming's tho" in the same neighborhood first told him.

Yesterday he returned & informed me that the freedman was out hunting stock when he reached the place, & as he was in a hurry he did not wait to arrest him but left orders for him & the girls to come in.

This is the way business is done for me  I have given him orders to arrest parties in town, order having been handed him at his home & he has come direct to my office within an half hour, without having looked for the man & told me he could not find him, & in one instance I arrested a party while he was standing at my office telling me he could not find him (for the simple reason he had not hunted for him. Would earnestly ask that some remedy be applied.
