November 14th 1867
Anderew Fort Cold) States that he went to work Oct 9th 1867 for Sheriff Wood Duke who told him after he was acquitted by the Court that if he did not go and work for him a month he might lie in jail until he Rotted - Andrew Fort further States that Mr Duke wanted him to work for him one month to pay his lawyer Fees which was twenty Dollars He further States that the month was up last Sattuary Night and that Mr Duke told him then that he owed him Twenty Dollars & that he had to pay it to him and he further states that when he wanted to leave Mr Duke told him if he did he would bring him back and put him in jail

appeared before and made oath to the above statement
