Alsie Tarver's testimony cond.)

My name is Alsie Tarver.  I am the wife of Allen Tarver.  Allen left home on Friday, the 30th ult, and did not tell me where he was going, only in the morning he said he was going to finish the corn down at Mr. Jackson's.  I have not seen him since.  Dont know what has become of him.  Don't know of any reason for his leaving home.  Don't know of anybody that has been about the country to interfere with him.  Allen has leased land of Goodhue Wilson, the same as Peter.  Don't know of any reason why it would not be safe for Allen to come home & gather his crops.  I don't think anybody in the country will interfere or trouble him.

A.D. Cooper, being duly sworn, said:  I have known W.S.G. Wilson, (familiarly known as Goodhue Wilson) since 1864, and during that time he has shown himself a plain, honest, fair, dealing man.  Mr. Wilson's character in that respect will compare favorably with that of any man in
