take them to jail. Shooting was heard soon after by several Freedwomen. The Freedmen taken away by these men were found shot dead in the vicinity of the firing, & there can be no doubt but what the party who took the Freedmen from their houses committed the bloody deed.
I herewith incorporate a copy of the Proceedings of the Inquisition held upon the dead bodies of said Freedmen.
