attached the potatoes, the day of trial came, Jack did not appear, judgement by default was rendered & after due time the potatoes levied. After bushels of corn were in a bad crib the balance in the dwelling house; when the constable came to attach them, I offered him to put them into the dwelling house that he might look, but he contemptuously answered, that for doing so he would take the whole value of the corn; left it therefore & now cattle & hogs have not left one grain. To day (the 6th) a cold norther blows & apparently it will freeze next night. No special constable comes to care for, to cover them. To that right, is that lawful to squander away in such a manner
