Nelson F.M. reported the same day that said Campbell had borrowed the aforesaid mule from him agreeing to pay him one dollar specie for the use of mule the day before. he had also disposed of other things which did not belong to him. I at first placed him in charge of the guard, but he being so noisy & troublesome I sent him to the County Jail until I could find out more about him & decide upon the best course to take with him & get him sober he having the appearance of being intoxicated.

The next day the man became more troublesome & noisy I came to the conclusion that he was crazy and requested to have him examined before a jury with a view if crazy to send him to an asylum. Jury was called by the sheriff who came to me just as I was about leaving on business saying the man was noisy & troublesome & annoyed the other prisoners confined in jail, & wished me to take the
