I told him I was willing to do all I could to accommodate him, but that I preferred if anyone was to be annoyed with him the prisoner in jail, should be rather than the whole town, my camp being on the public square and that I had but one "A" tent for a guard house, and no means of securing him. furthermore that in case he became unmanageable he had the means to iron him & could also gag him if necessary. that he was now in the hands of the county officials and would probably be sent to Austin to the asylum in a day or so. and finally had to tell the sheriff B.A. Brown that I could not and would not take him out of jail, a short time after I left the sheriff & went to my 1st sergt. and told him he wished to turn the prisoner over to him, saying he knew if I was at home I would take him and
