D C Marsh & J.W. Fennell being duly sworn say that Decd. Henry Campbell freedman of color came to his death from a Bayonet thrust, entering the left side at the 6th rib fracturing the same, passing inward and forward penetrating the lower globe of the left lung, which in our opinion is sufficient to cause death

Edward Hagen 3rd Corporal Co "E" 35 US Infantry being duly sworn says that John S Brown was on post as sentinel on the 13th Sept. 1867. and while in discharge of his duty the decd. H Campbell came upon said Brown and attempted to disarm him whereupon said Brown as sentinel under orders gave said Campbell a bayonet thrust in the region of the heart
