Dear Sir
Yours of the 11th is received, stating that you have recommended me to Genl Burns U.S. Marshall, as a suitable person for deputy U.S. Marshall, at first I could not see how I could attend to the office.  Owing to my private business at home.  but upon reflection I concluded anything I could do, to promote the interest of United States Government it was my duty to do. and if appointed Deputy U.S. Marshall, I shall endeavor to discharge the duties of the office to the best of my ability.
