I respectfully beg leave to call your attention to the many difficulties and almost insurmountable obstacles, attending the movements of Infantry in this South Eastern Texas, owing to the formation of the country, which I have before described.
   
My district in reality is a large one, as I am obliged to go to the assistance of S.A.C's. at different points, in every instance I have been greatly embarrassed in moving my troops rapidly.
   
Under these circumstances, Lieut, and taking into consideration of the fact that my force constitutes the only command
