Corporal Bruce shot him. The ball entering just above the [penis?] taking a downward course and lodging in the left leg, after he was shot Walker jumped behind the counter, when the corporal ordered him to come outside the counter as he was under arrest.

Walker was then taken by Mr. Young into a store where his wound was attended to, and later in the evening he was sent to his residence 6 miles from Belton.

Mr. Walker when sober is a good man but every time he comes to town he gets drunk and boisterous, and has been arrested twice before for disturbing the peace.

The corporal in shooting Mr. Walker did his duty, and had he not shot him he would in all probability been shot himself.
