41 L.13. Office Sub. Asst. Comr. Bureau R.F. and A.L. Belton Bell Co. Tex. Oct 31st 1867. Lieut. J.P. Richardson A.A.A. Gen'l. Bureau R.F. and A.L. Austin Sir: I have the honor to report that on the 9th inst Corporal John Bruce, Co. B. 6th Cavalry, on duty at this place, shot a citizen of this county, named Robert Walker, while attempting to arrest the said Walker. The enclosed testimony of the keeper of the saloon in which the shooting occurred, will given you the circumstances of the case. I would respectfully state that Mr. Walker is now doing well and will eventually recover. As there is no Sheriff in town the men have to perform his duty
