Lieutenant:
On the 24th day of May 1867, E. M Harris, was appointed Administrator, pro tem of the Estate of Sam Burnly, alias Townsend, freedman, until a regular Administrator could be appointed. Mr. Harris, turned the papers pertaining to the case over to Dr Brown, without being regularly relieved_ Among these papers is his due bill as follows:

"Columbus Texas Mch 13th 1868
Due Jos W. Brown Forty Six dollars U.S. currency payable on demand due him as admr. of Est. of Sam Burnly decd"
