Lieutenant: In reference to my letter of 20th inst in relation to Mr Harris & the Estate of Sam. Burney I would respectfully add, that much complaint has been made to me in regard to the manner this property has been handled. From the papers, I should infer nothing had been done legally except the appointment of the Admr. pro. tem. Of the list of property herewith enclosed, it appears that Mr. Harris has only accounted for the following - viz: (3 herding hoes J D. Gilmore $1.50 (2 yoke oxen & 1 waggon J. W Brown 100.00 (1 Gray mare E M Harris 52.50 (1 Mule J W Brown 30.00 (1 Riffle Thomas 21.50 1 six shooter William 15.00 $220.50
