Manuel (called Sherrill) f.m. said that he met two men riding small bay horses, about 1 o'clock pm. On 25" Aug questioned him, asked if he was not afraid to ride that road told him that a black man had been killed just down the road. They behaved suspiciously. one of them, turned his horse and rode up to deponent, and suddenly dropped his head, turned his horse and raced off. One of the men was a old freedman slim faced.  the other had a broad face was pale, the broad faced man looked fat and shorter than the other. An red faced man looked tall. The two men were riding north and were about 3 miles from the body when he met them.
