Mt Pleasant Texas
Dec 25 1867.

[[/strikethrough]] Nilhite [[strikethrough]] C. Milhite-Swarne and and P.C. Trust in Company sworne and diposes [[/strikethrough]] the [[strikethrough]] as follows

Mr Trust & myself were coming into Mount Pleasant [[strikethrough]] about [[/strikethrough]] the sun was about one hour high. - we heard Six (6) or Seven (7) shots from [[strikethrough]] a [[strikethrough]] pistols in quick succesion before us in the road. we proceeded on toward the shots and met a young negro coming toward us. we call him by name  this young negro informed us that a negro was killed up the road for his mule was standing by his side and the negro laying in the road. we came on up, and found the negro as mentioned he was lieing in the road and [[strikethrough]] blood [[/strikethrough]] his brain was issuing from his skull. I think it was from the right side of the head. I sent the young negro back to Mr Walkers, his former master, with the news. the scene of the murder was about four (4) miles, on the road north from Mount Pleasant, and which leads to Mr. Dillyhunts farm.
