4th The case is not one that comes within the Jurisdiction of the agent of the Beaureau, as I understand the instructions promulgated by Genl J. J. Reynolds. 

5 It is proper to state that I am convinced that the agent at Columbus acted from the best of motives and desired to interpose to prevent injustice. If however this justifies interference in all cases there is at once in all cases the opinion of a military officer substituted for the Judgment of the Law administered by the courts of the county. 

6th The courts must sooner or later be the only place of redress, and the sooner we get back to that & save the rights of person & property, the sooner we shall realise peace, and the sooner will the Law come to be more respected.

7th I suggest that the agent at Columbus be notified that the case is one in which the
