The following cases of crime were brought to [[strikethrough]] came under [[/strikethrough]] my notice  [[strikethrough]] observation [[/strikethrough]] while absent:

2 freedmen - father and son - were killed while taking cotton from San Augustine to Shreveport and their team and load stolen. Parties killing them pursued caught and hung.

1 horse thief named Jno. Burleson stole his cousins horse - he was pursued and in resisting arrest was shot and died from the effects of the wound. This man Burleson murdered one or two men at Lampasas Springs so I am informed.

1 freedman named Sam Decherd found dead
